Jan 11, 2016 Steps to Disable PUIS on your DirecTV DVR Hard Drive. Connect the DVR hard drive to your computer with power and SATA data cables (you may use a SATA to USB adapter). Start the computer and boot to the GParted CD (you may need to change the boot device order in BIOS, or you could just make sure your OS drive is unplugged). Mar 31, 2019 My hard drive keeps getting full with all of the shows we're recording. Pay TV providers know that if you leave them, you will lose all the content you recorded on 'your' DVR when they take 'their' DVR back.). Or via a BB DECA or CCK via the coax cable. Most DirecTV installs these days connect your DVR to the internet. You can check if.

I spoke to a rep today who told me with a HD DVR replacement I could possibly get an HR 25. I've never heard of that unit.
Anyone know anything about it?Also my HR24-100 unit is a couple years old and the interface on it is really slow, especially with internet/on demand, even after deleting most of the stuff off the DVR. Are there other models of the HR24 (HR24-200 for example) that have come out in the last year or two?Edit: After more research I believe the HR24-500 is the latest version of that receiver. Interested in what changed from the HR24-100 and if it's better/snappier. Anyone know?.
Advanced Receivers Break down in one of three ways, depending on when the customer first activated their account:.Prior to Feb 2012; $10 for HD - $10 for DVR - $3 for Whole Home (optional fee). After Feb 2012, Prior to July 2015: $10 for HD - $10 for DVR - $25 Advanced Receiver Services as a 'chunk' fee that combines those two and $5 Whole Home together (appears if you have an HD-DVR of any type). After July 2015: $15 Advanced Receiver Services fee if you have an kind of HD-DVRNow you may be wondering, why do different customers have different pricing models in spite of their tenure? The short answer is 'because DirecTV are shitheads'.
The long answer is 'we force everyone to take HD boxes now, so we don't charge HD fees anymore as a result of our shoehorning people into those boxes'.As an important note, these fees do not multiply if you have multiple boxes. Think of them like licensing fees, you pay them once a month per account and they cover every receiver you own. Do you own, like, ten HD-DVRs?
Cool, $25 covers them all, just one charge. The HR-24's motherboard revisions do not give you any significant power boost. It's better to consider a Genie upgrade, if you need something a little beefier. There is no HR-25 at the time of this writing, as the two most recent receivers we've released are the H44Genie Lite (no hard drive, think of it as the successor to the H25), and the HR54 (3rd Genie iteration, is 4K ready allegedly)If you consider a Genie upgrade, don't let the CSR upsell you on Genie Minis or convince you replace ANY existing HDs or HD-DVRs with Minis. All HDs and HD-DVRs are capable of using the Whole Home sharing capability, it's not a feature exclusive to the Genie line of products.
Thanks for the info. I was hoping there was a significant upgrade/difference between early HR 24-100 and the latest revisions of the HR 24 (HR24-500)I already have a Genie in the house and a genie mini. The HR-24 is used for the RV and is our travel unit. When traveling for extensive periods of time we are really unhappy with the performance of the receiver. We absolutely do want/need a DVR, so since they won't let you have two Genie's this is our best option atm. They just need to come up with a faster/better HD DVR unit. The interface is super slow.
You have internet features but it's painful to use with the amount of time you're waiting between selecting this and that. And the simple act of pulling up the guide is slow every time.
I would never describe this piece of equipment as 'snappy' but that's what it should be.I deleted most of the stuff off the DVR and it helped slightly. But it's still slow and outdated and the old tech that runs it is surely behind just about any smart phone out there. From what I've heard they haven't manufactured these in years. Why not come up with a new model?. It's possibly true that the HR24's earlier PCB revisions (-100, -200) are no longer produced, but the HR24-500 is still considered 'contemporary'. All eggs are in the Genie basket, as far as the company is broadly concerned.
If you want the creme de la creme, you'll need to shop for an HR44 or HR54. Note that, if you purchase an upgrade from an agent over the phone, they literally cannot guarantee if you'll get the 44 or 54 but the differences are marginal (do you give a shit about 4k, basically). You can buy a specific receiver from places like Solid Signal, but wherever you buy it (or get it for free if you qualify), activating an upgrade receiver will still create a new 24mo agreement on your account.;vAs far as the slow interface is concerned, we entertain the possibility that it might be the remote but even that's a tough sell. As the remote is your only interface tool, it plays a role in the relationship but that doesn't necessarily mean it's to blame.Slow receivers also don't typically warrant a replacement under warranty unless their various actions fall well outside of acceptable time frames (we have a huge chart, complete with maximum 'reasonable' spans in seconds).
You'll need to call a TEC CSR to have them examine those time frames with you, but even then there's little call to action on the part of the company to replace receivers that are only marginally slow. The hand-wave is often 'the receivers do a lot of things in the background, slowness is sometimes natural'.
